Mr. Jesús Alonso is a Senior Scientist at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) since 2006. With a PhD in Biological Sciences by the Complutense University of Madrid, Mr. Alonso has worked in the Institute of Food Science, Technology and Nutrition (ICTAN), leading projects in R&D, and in the technological food supply chain industry. He was appointed General Director of Innovation and Business Competitiveness (2007-2010) and, afterwards, General Director of Science and Technology in Extremadura (2007-2011).
Mr. Alonso is currently the General Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation and has fully participated in:
– Drafting of the Regional Law of Science, Technology and Innovation
– Creating CICYTEX (Scientific and Technological Research Centre of Extremadura)
– Building up FUNDECYT (Science and Technology Park of Extremadura)
– Managing the Regional Plans for R&D&I, and the Regional Program for Innovation
