WINTER SCHOOL 2019 – ENGLISH 2018-12-03T12:17:13+00:00

About

The 2019 NanoGateway Winter School is an initiative to bring together students, researchers and companies from Spain and Portugal working closely in the topic “Nanotechnology for therapy and diagnostics”, a new wave of technologies that will redefine, reshape and eventually transform how we see and how we use medical technologies, therapy and diagnostic methods.

The main goal of this school is to share knowledge on therapy and diagnostic applications of nanotechnology and it will focus in the aspects that are important in the medical context.

Objectives:

  • Provide both theoretical and practical knowledge on the uses of nanotechnology in therapy and diagnostics.
  • Facilitate the transfer of technologies to the market, transforming scientific results into commercially viable solutions, start-ups and spin-offs.
  • Provide a stimulating environment for learning and sharing among the various actors – students, researchers, industrial researchers, entrepreneurs – and building a common language.

Besides traditional lectures and talks the school will have a “hackathon” format, with focus on interactive activities, including brainstorming for concept notes, showcasing team work results and pitchesproven strategies to foster the generation of news ideas, proposal drafts and long term-collaborations.

Who can apply

Researchers from Academia and Industry, entrepreneurs from startup companies, postdoctoral researchers and other professionals working on healthcare or related sectors, students coming from PhD programs/Master’s degrees in nano-sciences and biomedical and health sciences.

Registration

To register, please fill out the online registration form.

In case of any doubts and/or any questions please send us an email to info@nanogateway.eu

Admission Criteria

Candidates will be selected through an evaluation of the registration form submitted, with an attempt to obtain a homogeneous geographical distribution with participants from all 8 POCTEP regions. After the geographical distribution, priority will also be given (in decrease order) to PhD students, Masters students, researchers/entrepreneurs, and professionals in a relevant area for the course.
Interested participants should fill out the registration form to attend the event lectures and talks.

For the special “hackathon” afternoon sessions on the 16 and 17 January, due to limited number of vacancies, candidates wishing to participate on those will need to submit a motivation letter.
